March 2017 NJ Universal Healthcare Coalition e-Newsletter

Two NJUHC events are coming up fast, and our movement continues to grow.

Women in Business and Nonprofits! Your event is getting closer!

Don’t miss this golden opportunity to network with other local women in business and learn about the healthcare policy that’s best for your employees and your bottom line! Come to our free breakfast and panel discussion on Thursday, March 30th at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill. To RSVP, email outreach@southjerseynow.org or simply click ‘going’ on our Facebook event.
Address: 401 Kings Hwy N, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08034
Time: 7:30–9:30 AM

HOLD THE DATE: May 6 for our next General Membership Meeting

We’ll be meeting again at the Labor Education Center on the Cook Campus at Rutgers–New Brunswick. We’ll gather at 10 AM, have a business meeting at 10:30, and begin our program at 11:00 AM. Our featured speaker will be Seth Kaper-Dale, the Green Party candidate for Governor, and a committed single payer supporter. Learn more about his campaign and his ideas for advancing single payer in New Jersey.

Two other important focal points in the coming months include a likely repeal of the ACA and the fast approaching primaries for NJ's 2018 gubernatorial race.

Congressional Recess April 10–21: Bring On Medicare for All

Make sure your Congress person knows that expanding Medicare to cover everyone is the simplest, most humane and most cost-effective way to replace the ACA with something that works better and costs less. Attend a town hall meeting and speak out.  Organize a group in your district to join you at a Town Hall or meet with your Congressperson. Tell us what you're doing so we can help get the word out in our April e-newsletter. Make sure every member of the NJ delegation knows that health care is a human right!

NJ Gubernatorial Race Debate on March 8

Ask the candidates to address health care, specifically Medicare for All NJ residents, at the upcoming gubernatorial debate on Wednesday March 8 from 4–7PM at Essex County Community College. New Jersey Working Families Alliance is sponsoring the debate, and it is open to the public, but you must register as a Working Families Alliance member in advance. Do this here. You won't need to make a contribution to register, but donations are welcome! NJ Working Families is a partner in our work, supporting universal, guaranteed, cradle to grave health care for every NJ resident.
