Bernie Sanders’s supporters, including many NJ Universal Healthcare Coalition Members Rallied in New Brunswick in May 8 and Atlantic City on May 9, 2016. Thousands of supporters showed up in New Brunswick and Atlantic City to rally for Bernie Sanders for President. Before what he called a “loud and raucous crowd,” Bernie Sanders started the rally by asking, “Are you guys ready to stand up, fight back and make a political revolution? Well, that’s good ’cause you came to the right place!”

Talking specifically about healthcare, he said: “Healthcare is in my view a right of all people, not a privilege. We are living right now in the only major country that does not provide healthcare as a right. We are going to change that. The Affordable Care Act has done some important things, but 29 million still don't have insurance, many more people are living with high deductibles, and every person here is getting ripped off by the greed of the pharmaceuticals.”

Conference: Healthcare Crisis in NJ
June 11, 2016,  9:30AM–3PM
Paul Robeson Campus Center, Essex Room
350  MLK Blvd., Newark, NJ

The Coalition for Social Justice is spearheading this conference to affirm that health care is a human right, and to help us understand how the corporate structure of health care runs counter to that principle. Dr. Margaret Flowers, a pediatrician and long-time activist, committed to guaranteed and affordable health care for all, will be the keynote speaker. NJUHC, the Irvington and Newark Chapters of the NAACP, and several other organizations are co-sponsoring this conference. Panelists include Dr. Winthrop Dillaway of Physicians for a National Health Program, David Hungerford from the Coalition for Social Justice and Sandra Hayward of Popcorn Kidz.

We encourage everyone who cares about improving health care to attend this conference. It will provide a unique opportunity to bring NJ health care activists together, and coordinate efforts to achieve a more humane health care system. The conference is free and modest refreshments will be provided. If you plan to attend please respond either by email or via facebook.

March for Our Lives July 25 at the DNC

Among several marches at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, one sponsored by Phillyhealth.org supports the need for single payer health care in America.  Meeting at City Hall at 3 PM, single payer advocates will walk the length of Broad Street to the Wells Fargo Center, location of the DNC for a rally with speakers. Along the way, we will be holding our signs asking for single payer.  Please join us as we rally and advocate for universal quality healthcare.
